Degree-qualified teachers

Both Shire Prep teachers have a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood and have enjoyed teaching Prep since the program began in 2007.

Teachers are supported by teaching assistants, who both have extensive experience in engaging with and caring for pre-school children.

The ratio is one adult to 10 students.

Prep 1

Monday and Tuesday (plus Wednesday for three-day students)

Leanne Bentley

Leanne Bentley has been an early-childhood teacher for more than 20 years, teaching Kindergarten and Year 1, and providing learning support.

She teaches Kindergarten at Shire Christian Schools’ Junior School on Wednesdays.

Emma Davidson

Emma is married to Geoff and they have three children, all attending Shire Christian School. They are members of the Narwee Baptist Church where Emma is involved in the children’s ministry. Emma has a Bachelor in Early Childhood Education.

Prep 2

Thursday and Friday (plus Wednesday for three-day students)

Suzanne Ishak

Suzanne Ishak has more than 20 years teaching experience, including Years 1, 2 and 4. She was contracted to provide classroom release time for teachers, in doing so teaching a variety of subjects over many grades. Suzanne also consulted in the development of preschool programs in a long-day care setting.

Karen Spencer

Karen Spencer is married to Ross. They have four children, three at University, one at Shire Christian School. Karen and Ross are involved with Riverwood Presbyterian Church where Karen helps with kids' church, women's ministry and soup kitchen ministry.

Shire Prep offers a Christian early-childhood environment, coupled with a kindergarten-readiness that only an on-site prep class can provide.
